CHRISTOPHER PRATT, R.C.A.
Literature:
David P. Silcox and Merike Weiler, Christopher Pratt, Toronto, 1982, frontispiece, and dustjacket, both illustrated in colour, for Pratt’s 1973 painting of the same subject (entitled Cottage),
Note:
Weiler writes: “An art object must stand alone, transcending its creator. And yet, at some moment, most of us have felt the urge to hear the voice and see the human hands behind the paint...That is what I felt the first time I saw the painting Cottage (frontispiece), with its intense, hypnotic calm, its geometric sea and sky, dusted with luminosity. I wanted to know more about the man who had painted such a passionately ordered universe.”
