Broadcasting Pioneer Mildred MacDonald, was one of Canada’s first female broadcasters (ref: CBC). This work was gifted to Mrs. MacDonald in August 1965 after she completed an interview with the artist for the CBC radio show, “Morning Commentary”. Huie and another Jamaican artist were touring three Canadian cities (Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa). Included with the painting is a copy of the original script outline used on-air and the original, unedited, interview which runs approximately 10 minutes long.
