The current lot is possibly an early version of Vaslav Nijinsky’s red costume worn for the Siamese Dance from Les Orientales which premiered in 1910. The photograph may have been a study for a painting by Jacques-Émile Blanche of Vaslav Nijinsky in Siamese Dance in the red version of the costume.
