Now residing in Toronto, the owner of this collection dedicated the last 40 years to the full-time study of Asian Arts with a main interest in Chinese ceramics, jades and scholarly objects. The majority of the items were purchased at auction and from private collections.
Purchased at auction in London during the 1970’s.
Note:
The decoration for this vase is highly unusual for Guangxu types. More common designs will feature multi-coloured butterflies or dragon/phoenix combinations. However, a Guangxu bowl with ‘100 antique’ medallions was sold at Christie’s Hong Kong May 30, 2012, lot 4263.
